Moving House (Intro & Life Update)
Last week, we traded our San Francisco flat for a house in the East Bay. If you’ve been around for a while, you know we lived in Florida (I grew up there), Texas (I miss the warmth), Seattle (I miss nothing), and most recently, San Francisco. I’ve also lived in Ohio and Missouri, but that was before Mike and therefore does not count. Of all of the places we’ve lived, SF was our favorite, but one morning last December I woke up, looked out the window and thought, yep, time to go.
We started house hunting later that week.
Finding a house in the Bay Area is like trying to pin the tail on a living donkey. Also, the donkey is tiny and doesn’t allow dogs. I went cross-eyed scrolling through Zillow listings morning after morning, looking for anything that even sort of maybe fit our requirements for price/size/location. If living in California is expensive, the Bay Area is offensive. So when I stumbled on a picture of a pretty house with big windows in our preferred area under budget, I submitted an application on the spot, grabbed my husband by the back of the shirt and hauled him cartoon-style away from his Very Important Zoom Meeting through nightmarish 4 p.m. traffic out of the city up to the suburbs so we could elbow past the other applicants and charm the landlords and yes, we have a dog but he’s very friendly I promise can you please make an exception.
The place is nice. Peaceful. Very suburban in all the ways I’ve missed. Living in a city can be great—the walkability, the restaurants, the endless things to do—but it’s not effortless. San Francisco, specifically, is not. Moving away has been a little bittersweet, but it’s mostly a great change. I am cautiously hopeful we’ll be here for a while.

Additional Book Freebies
Elvish Is Free Today on Kindle!
My debut novel Elvish (The Elvish Trilogy, #1) is FREE on Kindle today only! If you’ve been curious about the book but haven’t yet picked up your copy, now’s your chance. And while we’re at it, Ember (The Elvish Trilogy, #3) is $0.99 on Kindle today as well. It’s a good time to get into the series!
The River of Reversal (Free Short Story!)
The River of Reversal is a short story that takes place six years before the start of my upcoming full length novel To Poison a King and introduces Selene as she was in early childhood, before she makes the mistake that changes her life. It's about choices and fate and a father's love for his daughter. The story (specifically, the legend of the River) plays a major role in the plot of the full length book, so if you’re interested in the series, it’s a great way to dip your toes into some of the lore.
The River of Reversal is free to read. I’m giving this book away as a thank you for those who’ve been following me since my debut, and a welcome to those who are new. You can download The River of Reversal to enjoy on your preferred e-reader through BookFunnel, or you can quickly access a web version on my site.

Leaving Reviews for The Elvish Trilogy
Elvish is now coming up on 2,000 reviews on Amazon, which is completely wild. Your support has directly impact my success as an author, so to all of you who've taken the time to leave a review, thank you, thank you, thank you. If you'd like to continue to support me, I would so appreciate reviews for Elder and Ember. Let's show these books some love, too!
Thank you for sticking around, reading what I have to say and supporting me on this journey. And as always, happy reading.
